Ranbir says 'No' to film with SRK

It had to happen sooner or later. Some topnotch filmmaker would write a script for Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan and current flavour Ranbir Kapoor AND then market this coup at an unbelievable price... because surveys show that they are the two most charismatic actors on the scene at this point.

Well, it apparently happened. Karan Johar, who has the hotline to both actors, reportedly approached Ranbir with three scripts to be made under the Dharma banner. And in one of them, Karan wanted to cast SRK and Ranbir together.

Now the script is said to be mind-blowing, but before you can start celebrating the coming together of these two actors —here is the bad news. Ranbir is said to have told Karan that he isn’t doing two-hero projects at the moment, and so he would much rather put this project on hold.

Ranbir is okay with being part of an ensemble cast like he is in Raajneeti. But this is an one-off thing. And the actor isn’t eager to do too many of these. His next two films — Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar and Anurag Basu’s Khamosh are solo hero projects. News is that Ranbir’s other reservation about being cast with SRK at this point is that he (Ranbir) is a newbie whereas Shah Rukh is a phenomenon.

Ranbir is confident of his talent and he knows that if destiny wills it, he will be the next generation superstar. His desire is that he would much rather do a project with Shah Rukh when the two of them are equals.

A source close to the actor maintains, “SRK is leagues ahead of Ranbir. And a filmmaker who casts these two actors together will naturally be more partial to SRK. Also, chances are that SRK will steal Ranbir’s thunder if they come together now. While Ranbir respects Shah Rukh’s success and talent, he is still not ready to take up the challenge of being seen with him on screen as yet. The day Ranbir feels he can match up to King Khan, he will do a film with him.”
