''Mughal-e-Azam'' inspires Shahrukh Khan as a Producer

Shahrukh Khan produced Mughal-e-Azam documentary because this epic drama inspires him as a producer. Recently a documentary was made on the larger than life film Mughal-e-Azam and it was SRK’s production house Red Chilies that produced the film.

The idea of preserving the epic drama came to the Superstar’s head was when he was having a conversation with the Hollywood superstar Martin Scorsese last year at the Berlin Film Festival where My Name is Khan was screened. That conversation got Shahrukh Khan thinking and the idea of the preservation of the epic drama was born.

What added fuel to the fire was the fact that Martin wanted to preserve some Indian cinema as well and this got SRK thinking about his responsibilities as a cinema person and hat contribution he was making towards maintaining good cinema and films that are films of the highest order.

Very soon however the superstar got an opportunity to translate his thought into action when he met Akhbar Asif the son of director K Asif at the making of Shahrukh Kahn’s Ra One. There Akhbar started talking about Mughal-e-Azam and SRK thought of making a documentary on the film.

Srk was touched with the passion with which Akbar talked of his father’s film. To quote Shahrukh, “I was moved by the passion with which the family spoke about their father’s classic. Not to forget their perseverance in fulfilling his dream of releasing Mughal-E-Azam in colour. Akbar mentioned that last year was the film’s 50th anniversary and that he wanted to pay a tribute to his father.”

Thus the documentary Mughal-e-Azam – A Tribute By A Son To His Father happened thanks to an idea planted by a foreigner in the mind of Badshah of Bollywood.

SRK keen on getting Lady Gaga for ''Ra.One''

Shah Rukh Khan is keen on getting Lady Gaga for his sci-fi fantasy film Ra.One. So much that he's asked Akon to convince Gaga to do a music video for the film.

Recently, the international pop singer hinted to a US based news channel that she has some special plans for India. When asked what they were, she replied, "can't disclose, but it's a collaboration with some local people."

There has always been speculation that SRK would rope in an international singer for a music video for Ra.One.

Lady Gaga's name started doing the rounds because of her proximity to Akon who worked with Shah Rukh for a song in the film.

Not many know that Gaga was actually Akon's discovery and got her signed on his music label Interscope.

A source reveals, "Lady Gaga is the biggest international act in the world right now. If she agrees to do Ra.One it would be a huge asset for the film.

Akon has already bounced the idea to Gaga's management and her team. While she's touring right now, there's a possibility that Shah Rukh might have a meeting with her in coming weeks."

The source adds that while Gaga is what Shah Rukh wants, his team is also considering Shakira as an option if things don't work out with the Bad Romance singer.

"Shakira has toured India and has met SRK in the past. She's also familiar with Bollywood and aware of the current trends in music.

While Anubhav Sinha and Khan are trying hard to get Akon to convince Gaga, they are also sending Shakira feelers for the same."

Long hair tough to manage, SRK

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who has donned a new look in the sequel of his film "Don", says it is a real problem to maintain long hair and wonders how girls manage them so easily.

"It's a real problem maintaining such strings of hairs attached. I haven't shaved for so many days. I have huge respect for women, but really want to ask them how they maintain their long hair," Shah Rukh told the media at the launch of a documentary his production house made on the 1960s epic film "Mughal E Azam" at the JW Marriot Hotel Thursday night.

Shah Rukh said he was waiting for the shooting of director Farhan Akhtar's " Don 2" to wrap up so that he could get rid of the wig.

"I wake up in the morning and have to set it. I can't take a proper bath. They had to be washed with care. I am really, really looking forward to the shooting of 'Don 2' to wrap up," he said.

"My daughter tells me 'Papa I want to take you for a bath'. It's a huge problem. No sooner than the shooting of 'Don 2' finishes, I will take out this wig," the actor joked.

Bollywood Badshah SRK tells youth to shun corruption

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan Wednesday urged the youth to stay away from corruption and make India a better place by being honest citizens.

"The negative has to change. There is so much corruption around and the future can be bettered by young boys and girls only, so that the generations to come can be proud of the country," Shah Rukh said while addressing students of the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) here.

"It is my earnest plea - do not indulge in scams or corruption. Everyday there are new scams in newspapers and TV. So I request the young generation to do things that do not leave the new generations embarrassed. Just make the best of opportunities and I wish all of you all the best," he added.

Shah Rukh, who had hundreds of students waiting to catch a glimpse of him, had other words of wisdom to share before hosting IIPM`s annual international business and marketing quiz DARE 2011.

"A lot of people ask me what advice I have to give to them. But I`ll tell you honestly. I was at an award function with Mr. Bachchan once and before going to the stage, I asked him - `Sir, do you have any advice to give?` He said- `Before going to the stage, just check if your zip is up or not!`

"So I did that before my performance! And that`s all I have to advise you youngsters - make sure all your zippers are intact when you do anything in life, and all shall be well," said the actor.

The 45-year-old also repeated his dialogue from ‘Om Shanti Om’, and said: "Agar end mein sab kuch theek na ho, to woh the end nahi hain dosto…Picture abhi baaki hai… (If something does not end well, that`s not the end, friends…the picture is still pending)".

His nearly three-hour delay left the students and media drained, but Shah Rukh`s grand entry in a blue Bentley lifted everyone`s spirits in no time. Sporting his deadly, new look for "Don - The Chase Continues" - complete with long, unkempt hair and a beard, the actor left the girls asking for more.

The audience at the Parkland Exotica were enthralled as Shah Rukh hosted the quiz show in his trademark, witty style.

He joked, laughed, pulled the contestants` legs and even took a dig at IIPM dean Arindam Chaudhary`s long locks.

"I am sporting long hair for my new film…but I should really learn how to keep them shampooed and straight like Arindam`s hair…," he quipped.

His witty and naughty one liners didn`t spare some international students too. When one young girl from the US said she loved Indian saris, Shah Rukh commented: "Oh well…I am quite good at untying saris!"

SRK's tattoo party with kids

Shah Rukh Khan and kids go wild while mum Gauri Khan is away....

Actor Shah Rukh Khan has on his arm a bold 'D' tattoo for his character in the film 'Don 2'. And while he is busy showing it off, kids Aryan and Suhana are maha-excited about it, so much so that they wanted to get inked as well.

So what did dad Shah Rukh do? Well, he called home a henna artist and they got themselves every kind of tattoo that could possibly want and think of. All this, while mommy Gauri Khan was out of town!

Shah Rukh spent some quality time with his children and did some crazy things, including clicking pics with them. Such wonderful memories ought to be captured, and even framed!

SRK is the busiest person: Roshan Abbas

Actor Roshan Abbas, who is making his directorial debut with " Always Kabhi Kabhi" under Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment banner, said the superstar has some unique promotional ideas up his sleeve.

"His involvement is there but he is also shooting for two movies. He has 'RA.One' on one side and 'Don2' on the other, but in the midst of these, his support is always there and you will get to see some unique Shah Rukh ideas as we go along," Abbas told us in an interview.

Shah Rukh is in touch with his office from Malaysia, where he is shooting for "Don2", said Abbas.

"Currently, he is in Malaysia. But he has seen the marketing plan of the film. He is continuously in contact with Red Chiiles because he wants to know what we are doing, what our ideas are to promote the film. He has also given us some ideas," said Abbas.

"Once you see the posters, which would be out soon, you will see how the Red Chillies' look and feel has come into this film," he added.

Abbas also said he regards Shah Rukh as his mentor.

"He has always been around on the sets. He is the busiest person on this planet. Even in the middle of that, he used to find time for my film. That's what makes him really interesting. He was there as a mentor in that sense, but he has not been a tormentor," Abbas laughed.

Set in a high school, "Always Kabhi Kabhi" captures the emotions of love, jealousy and pride that marks one's school years.

"It's an adaptation of my play about a high school 'Graffiti', which I earlier wanted to turn into a graphic novel," Abbas said.

SRK wants 'Always Kabhi Kabhi' to be controversy free

Shah Rukh doesn't want any controversies rocking his next production, a teen flick

Shah Rukh seems to have had enough of controversies. He is making sure that his forthcoming next Roshan Abbas' directorial debut Always Kabhi Kabhi doesn't get into that space.

Though the film is about Delhi school kids and is based in the capital city it has stayed away from talking about an infamous MMS scandal. Roshan says, "We haven't delved into the MMS territory.

We wanted to make a feel good youth centric film. One of our writers had also suggested incorporating the Valentines Day controversy where a few couples were banned and beaten up but we refrained from using any such scandalous incidents. I know films like Dev D talked about it but ours is in a very different space."

Roshan informs that his producer Shah Rukh Khan was very clear from the beginning to make a positive film on today's youth. "Shah Rukh and I had a lot of discussions during the scripting stage.

His point was 'lets concentrate on the positives. This generation is the hope of the future lets keep the hope of it alive.'

He wanted the audience to leave theater with a smile He said Red Chilles is known to make wholesome family entertainers and I fully value his opinion and I guess that will also help us getting a wider audience."

He describes the film as "a simple, sweet coming-of-age story about today's youth and communication gaps they face with their parents and how they resolve it."

The movie is based on Roshan's play Graffiti which he had staged in New Delhi in the '90s and is talks about high school students and stars newbies Zoa Morani (daughter of Karim Morani of Morani Bros who handle SRK's shows), Satyajit Dubey (grandson of theatre stalwart Pandit Satyadev Dubey), Giselli Monteiro (she played Harleen in Love Aaj Kal) and Ali Fazal (played suicide victim Joy Lobo in 3 Idiots).

Shahrukh's DON 2 delays Kareena's DHRUV

DHRUV, which would be starring Kareena Kapoor and Chitrangada Singh in principle roles along with Farhan Akhtar, has been further delayed. What has further aggravated the situation is Shahrukh Khan's DON 2 which is a priority for the production house.

"Shahrukh Khan would be seen in DON 2 in December this year. Now it is the biggest film ever that has been produced (along with Riteish Sidhwani) and directed by Farhan Akhtar. The trouble though is that DHRUV too is a Farhan Akhtar film. Not just that, he is also the central protagonist there in the capacity of an actor," informs a trade insider who is keeping tabs on the latest developments.

All of this means that the production team's entire concentration is currently on DON 2 due to which DHRUV (to be directed by Sudhir Mishra) stays to be on hold.

Informs a source, "For Shahrukh Khan, DON 2 is a major project. Other than RA. ONE which is his own production, he has also taken the responsibility of keeping the franchise running. It is a loaded action entertainer with extensive effort required to be put into post production. Farhan and others are totally neck deep into DON 2 which means there is no time available for DHRUV to kick start."

What also stays on to be a fact is that there are two more high profile films that are currently being made by Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani - ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA (with Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif) and yet untitled film with Aamir Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor. Due to that Sudhir's film has to wait for a while.

"That's okay, such things happen during film making. We will start DHRUV post the release of DON 2", Sudhir keeps a brave face here, "In any case, I am planning for another film in the interim."

One hopes this DHRUV doesn't loose itself in the cosmic battle of stars!

Shah Rukh Khan in prison!

Here's looking at the Don in a Malaysian jail

The long hands of the law have finally caught up and landed the most wanted man in prison. Here's a first look at Shah Rukh Khan in the Malaysia schedule of Don 2.

The star has been currently filming for the sequel in Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi.

Shah Rukh Khan shooting for Don 2 in Malaysia

Says a unit source, "The sequences being filmed have the cops tail him and arrest the Don. This has left his folks bewildered as they firmly believed in his dictum: "Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi namumkim hai."

Ace up his sleeve?

Adds the source, "Obviously, there is an ace up his sleeve because the Don has already masterminded a prison break."

SRK who shot with several local Malaysian artistes had to indulge in a lot of physically taxing sequences.

He had to take on the inmates of the jail those who dared to question how he landed up behind the high walls.
King Khan is joined by co-stars Priyanka Chopra and Boman Irani for the schedule.

The star, who sports a special hairdo for his jail sequence, has been getting muddy and dirty as he packs punches with the inmates.

Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar (who is also directing the flick), the movie is slated for a December release.

Don 'SRK' caught in Malaysia!

'Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin...namunkin hai' is something everyone in Bollywood believes.

Naturally, it was shocking for TOI to discover that Shah Rukh Khan, who is reprising his Don avatar was actually spending time in a Malaysian jail. Hello, what just happened here? We're wondering how SRK landed in jail. His motive remains unexplained and even the filmmakers of Don 2, Excel Entertainment Pvt Ltd are not divulging any further details.

Jailbird or otherwise, SRK with his long dishevelled locks and a lean sculpted body looks terrific. Of course, his incarceration comes as a rude shock. Perhaps even this has some hidden logic. As the adage goes — Whatever Don does, he does for a reason.

This thriller is due on Christmas. We'll have to wait until then to know how the Don landed himself in this spot.

Shah Rukh Khan torn apart

Actor Shah Rukh Khan is going through the grind as he shoots for Ra.One and Don 2 side-by-side.

With him playing superhero in Ra.One, Shah Rukh gets into heavy costumes that make him lose weight. Unfortunately, he has to put on all that lost weight back on for his continuity in 'Don 2'.

It's this constant losing weight and putting on weight that has got SRK exhausted. But the actor says he's loving the process nonetheless, simply because the masses are going to be entertained at the end of it all.

However, with most of the shooting done for both films, Shah Rukh is breathing a little easy now. "He is working hard on the post production of Ra.One." The battle isn't over till the film is out in the threatres. Till then, Shah Rukh won't rest," says a unit member.

Bangladeshi fan spends $3300 to meet SRK

Mehjabeen Erum Alim, of Bangladesh, kept a patient vigil and spent a whopping 10,000 ringgit (about $3,300) over two days to meet Shah Rukh Khan along with some other fans in Malacca.

She did realise her dream - but SRK only smiled, gave autographs, posed for photographs and left, blowing flying kisses. Mehjabeen was told that he does not speak before shooting to stay within the character he is playing.

Shah Rukh, who is on a month's schedule to shoot a sequel 'Don', saw the news of Mehjabeen spending big money on her vigil in The Star.

"Fortunately, he spotted us just as he was about to get into the car and agreed to sign autographs," Mehjabeen said, adding that she managed to draw his attention to the story in the daily about her wish to meet him. He autographed the news article for her.

"It is an indescribable feeling and I am so happy to have finally met him. I feel like I am in dreamland," Mehjabeen said after later.

SRK met her and seven other fans at the resort just as he was about to enter his car to go to the film location for 'Don 2'.

Mehjabeen, 27, is happy, but not satisfied. She said she would still love to meet him again just to hear his voice.

"It was just a fleeting moment and he didn't say a word but merely nodded and gestured to us as he rarely speaks before filming so as not to come out of the character he is playing," Mehjabeen, pursuing her masters in business administration in Kuala Lumpur, said.

SRK's documentary on ''Mughal-E-Azam''

On the first floor of Shah Rukh Khan's house Mannat, lies something he wouldn't trade for gold. It's a film camera.

Not too many people know that the actor owns the original camera on which his favourite film Mughal-E-Azam (1960) was shot. Khan is a self-proclaimed fan of the classic and has now finished making a documentary on it.

SRK has always been in awe of K. Asif's direction in the film. Not only has Khan produced the film under his banner Red Chilies, he has also played the sutradhaar of this documentary.

A source from the production house said, "SRK is a huge fan of the film. He is extremely close to K. Asif's son Akbar Asif, who resides in London. Every time they meet, they have long discussions over the film."

During one of these discussions, Akbar Asif apparently expressed the desire to pay a tribute to his father and make a documentary on the classic.

SRK immediately told him that he loved the idea and that he would produce it for him. SRK also volunteered to be an anchor for the documentary.

The 40-minute-long documentary is now ready and SRK will hold a grand launch for it soon, we are told.

The source added, "The documentary has been put together by Devan Munjal. It will have a lot of information on the classic.

There will be interviews and comments from many B-Town biggies. SRK has always maintained that he is a huge fan of the legendary actor Dilip Kumar and this will be his way of doing something in honour of the film.

The documentary has been named Mughal-E-Azam - A tribute by a son to his father.

‘All for my kids’ SRK

Shah Rukh Khan is probably one of the few lucky actors who have achieved great success on small screen as well as big screen. Talking about his latest stint on TV as the host of Imagine’s Zor Ka Jhatka, the actor who probably will also be seen in its second season, says, “I am quite sporty m yself and even my kids enjoy sports. I am completely enjoying hosting this high energy show as it is quite entertaining to see the contestants not giving up and trying their best to excel at various stunts given to them.”

Khan’s upcoming films include Anubhav Sinha’s Ra.One and Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2 for which he is currently shooting in Malaysia. “Ra.One is a superhero movie and we have given a whole new dimension to the visual effects being used in Hindi films. I have even sought the services of many Oscar-winning technicians for the post production of the film,” says Khan. He further adds, “Ra.one is dedicated to all the fathers and their kids. To be honest, my kids don’t think I am their superhero and I hope this movie will change that.”

On being asked about the importance of awards to him, the actor quips, “I enjoy receiving awards because my kids love them. I don’t care about what others think. I am happiest doing things for the sake of my children.”

Shah Rukh Khan copies Priyanka

SRK will bring seven of his most popular characters to life alongside Priyanka Chopra on Zor Ka Jhatka.

Last time you saw him in a double role on the game show Zor Ka Jhatka where he brought to life two of his memorable characters – Raj and Surinder Sahni. This time Shah Rukh Khan is going five steps ahead and will be playing seven of his popular characters on Zor Ka Jhatka .

For tomorrow's episode, Shahrukh will host the show in a unique way donning the roles of his seven most adored screen characters. In this special episode, Shahrukh Khan will have dazzling diva, Priyanka Chopra, whose film Saat Khoon Maaf is up for release.

Shahrukh will enthrall audiences as he plays his seven most popular characters including Raj from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge , Rahul from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai , Deva from Devdas , Rahul Mehra from Darr , Raj Aryan from Mohobbatein , Om from Om Shanti Om and Don. Priyanka Chopra will join in the merriment and enjoy the participants' hilarious falls while jumping over moving obstacles, bouncing off big balls and dodging swinging pendulums.

While Priyanka kills all her seven husbands in the film Saat Khoon Maaf , we wonder if Shah Rukh Khan in his seven avatars could survive the sexy jhatkas of Priyanka Chopra.

Malaysia Gripped By Shah Rukh Mania

When it comes to catching a glimpse of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, 27-year-old Mehjabeen Alim will stop at nothing, even if it means spending more than one lakh rupees.

The young Bangladeshi, who is a student at a local university here, said that she has spent 1,50,000 rupees in the last two months just to have a photograph taken with her idol who is currently shooting in Malaysia for 'Don 2'.

"I paid about RM 8,000 (1,20,000 rupees) last month to get a VIP seat at Marina Bay when he was in Singapore on Jan 14 for the Zee awards," she said, adding that "sadly, I only got to see the back of his head."

To pay for that trip, she worked part-time for a month and saved her birthday money.

Her latest pursuit of the celebrity saw her renting a car and booking into a hotel in Malacca after she found out that King Khan was filming there.

Accompanied by her boyfriend, she braved the scorching sun yesterday to catch a glimpse of the Bollywood heartthrob outside the location set in Sungai Udang yesterday, local Star newspaper said.

"I have been his fan ever since he first appeared as an actor on TV. I know everything about him and my dream is to have a photograph taken with him," she said.

She waited under the sun for almost four hours before getting a glimpse of the actor from a distance.

The 45-year-old is extremely popular in Malaysia especially among the Malays who don't understand Hindi but follow the movies with the help of subtitles.

Meanwhile, Khan, who was bestowed the title of 'Datuk' by the state of Malacca, said that he was happy to be able keep his promise to shoot a movie here.

He is currently in Sungai Udang to shoot the sequel to his 2006 hit 'Don', which he described as an action thriller in the same genre as the Bond movies.

"However, I play the villain but one which the women love," he said after a luncheon with Malacca Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam yesterday.

The Bollywood heartthrob said he was also considering doing a romantic movie in Malacca.

"There is a lot of beautiful and romantic scenery in Malacca especially near the Malacca River," he said.

Khan was conferred the Darjah Gemilang Seri Melaka which carries the title 'Datuk' by Malacca Governor Mohd Khalil Yaakob in 2008,

Nawab to take on SRK!

There is a warning for all the B-town beauties and also industry’s hunks, we request you to make a new hide out as Bollywood has a new ‘BAD MAN’. It’s not Gulshan Grover we are talking about. It’s the new entry in Villains’ List, Nawab Shah.

Nawab is not new in the industry; he has earlier worked in films like, “Jaaneman”, “Lakshya” and “Escape from Taliban”, where he was seen opposite Manisha Koirala. But after a long gap from films, this ‘Pathan’ is back in Farhan Akhtar’s “Don 2”. And in this film he would be seen fighting with the King Khan. Before we forget, this ‘Pathan’ tag was given to him by SRK only, who used to greet Nawab on sets by this tag only.

Nawab in “Don 2” is playing a lead villain and will be seen fighting and beating SRK, not literally beating SRK but taking on him as a bad man…Nawab has his own Nawabi style and his tashann made him the first choice for director Farhan. He was very much impressed by the actor’s work in “Lakshya” and selected him for this project too.

But this is not all for Nawab ji, he has one more meaty project “Bodyguard”, where he will have to face the “Dabangg” Salman Khan. Nawab’s rough and tough looks make him a demand in villain market. He will be seen taking hard on industry’s king and Dabangg man...wooo…It seems he is all after the KHANS this time.

As per Nawab, it is very important to have a villain in a movie and he is happy doing this. Well if you are happy then we too are happy for you. But hope that you know the consequences of being a bad man; you get to have lots of ‘Dhulaai’. Wish you all the luck and besides the pittai, have a great shooting…

Shah Rukh Khan mobbed at Kuala Lumpur airport for Don 2 shots

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has a huge fan following in Malaysia and the adoration was visible for all when he landed here to shoot his much awaited film 'Don 2' with Priyanka Chopra.

The two actors were mobbed at the Kuala Lumpur international airport by fans who pushed and shoved to get an autograph of their idols.

The 45-year-old actor and Priyanka did not disappoint them and signed autographs, posed for pictures, before being escorted to their vehicle.

The Bollywood duo, accompanied by a 60-member crew are here to shoot the sequel to their hit 2006 thriller and will begin shooting in the historical city of Malacca, about two hours from here.

Local sensation Ady Putra, known for his bad boy roles in hit Malay movies like 'Anak Halal' and 'Histeria', will also star alongside Khan in the film.

Just like the original, 'Don 2' will be filmed on locations in Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Khan will be in the country for about a month.

Though Malaysia has a large ethnic Indian population, most of the actor's fans are Malays who love watching Hindi language films and Khan was awarded the title 'Datuk' by the Malaysian government three years ago.

What’s missing? An Oscar on Shah Rukh Khan's shelf

In January and February, the glam world is abuzz with awards excitement, especially the upcomingOscar Awards (Feb 27). And unlike most B-Town actors, superstar Shah Rukh Khan makes no bones of wanting to win an Oscar, someday! Ask him about all the talk and spoofs around his obsession with the Oscars, and he assures us that every bit of it is true. He says that it is the only thing he has not achieved in his life.

“I live life king-size in my head. And yes, I think I can do with an Oscar. No dream is big enough and for me, this hold true all the time,” says the superstar.

Khan says that he has created shelves in his house exclusively for the awards that he receives. “I love getting awards and I am not ashamed to admit it.When I look at those shelves, I realise that an Oscar will look good there,” says the actor.

Khan dismisses all talks around former friend, film-maker Farah Khan, who spoofed his obsession for Oscar in her last film Tees Maar Khan. He says he wants to achieve things for the sake of his children — daughter Suhana and son Aryan.

“It feels really good when I bring home an award for them—they give me a big hug. I don’t care what others are saying or doing. I have never cared about it in my life. I am happy living in the world that I have created for myself. I want to do things for the sake of my children. I don’t think I need anybody else’s approval in my life,” says Khan.

May be that is the reason he has not settled for less when it comes to his own films. Shah Rukh reveals that he has employed the services of 10 Oscar-winning technicians who will come down and train the staff at his own production house to ensure that his upcoming film has the best post-production (special effects et al).

“I don’t want to settle for anything less. I have sought the services of at least 10 Oscar-winning technicians who will come and train our staff before they start the post production of my film. It (the film) is my baby and I want just the best for it,” he informs.

SRK doesn't disappoint Ekta Kapoor

Shah Rukh Khan makes appearance at soap queen's awards event,

Shah Rukh Khan showed up to Ekta Kapoor's Global Indian Film and TV Honors event on Saturday, if only for his closeness to the TV czarina and her mom.

At his wife's insistence, King Khan even did a segment in stead of the longer act he was to do. Says an insider, "All of last week, SRK has been shooting for Farhan Akhtar's Don 2 and Zor Ka Jhatka,

On Wednesday, he fell off a cable while shooting heavy-duty action scenes for Don 2 and hurt his back and injured his elbow.

But being the professional he is, he completed all his shoots and went home. The only commitment left was the spoof segment he was to do for Ekta's awards show.

But by Thursday, it was obvious that Shah Rukh was in pain and that it would be impossible for him to perform."

A panic-stricken Ekta quickly rushed to meet SRK when he was shooting for the show. "A visibly upset King Khan told Kapoor that he wouldn't be able to perform.Seeing him in that state, she didn't have the heart to persuade him otherwise."

Shah Rukh normally never cancels his performances. "He even told Ekta that he has never done this in his life. When he commits to an event he makes sure he does it, come what may.

Meanwhile, news of the no-show got B-Town abuzz with speculation that SRK was backing out due to differences with Ekta. Few know how close he is to the Kapoors."

Wife Gauri also insisted he not let Ekta down "So, Khan came for the event, bandaged hand and all, and did five special moments with actresses Kajol, Sridevi, Sonali Bendre and Vidya Balan.

Not just that, he even presented an award given to Ajay Devgn (the actor was absent; wife Kajol picked it up). He later left for Malaysia for Don 2's shoot."

Ekta says, "Shah Rukh is a sweetheart. He couldn't perform as he was in pain but he came and helped us out with a segment that he ideated himself an interactive session of five interesting moments with the audience and heroines. SRK is not just a superstar but a super human being!"

Rohit Shetty smitten by SRK

One would have imagined only women are crazy about Shah Rukh Khan. It appears that even the men are smitten by him.

Director Rohit Shetty, who believes that Diwali is lucky for him and invariably has a release on that date (the Golmaal series, All the Best), was originally planning to bring his Bol Bachchan on Diwali this year. However, when he realised that his current favourite SRK is coming out with RA.One on Diwali, Rohit quietly postponed his film to a later date.

Says a trade source, "Rohit is going to be working with SRK on the Angoor remake in 2012. So he is ready to bend backwards to please the Badshah of Bollywood. Besides the G-3 director is said to be floored by SRK's charm."

Bollywood celebrities’ plans for ''Valentine's Day''

Buzz up!Shahrukh Khan, the king of romance, said that he would be celebrating Valentine’s Day in jail, as he would be shooting for a film in jail on the day. Aamir Khan will spend the day in Berlin, as he is one of the jury members for the Berlin film festival. Deepika Padukone will be busy shooting for Aarakshan in Bhopal on the day and Katrina Kaif too will work like any other day.

Lovers across the world must be eagerly waiting for Valentine’s Day to make their loved ones feel special but Bollywood celebrities, who entertain the public with romantic films, are in no mood to celebrate. Many will be working on the day while others think that it is a vogue idea to have such a day.

There is also a bunch of them who thinks that there is no point celebrating Valentine’s Day. Priyanka Chopra said that one doesn’t have to wait for a single day to express one’s love. Actor Arshad Warsi also echoed in the same vain, saying that everyday is Valentine’s Day for him, as he has to make his wife happy everyday. Kareena Kapoor too has no plans for the day and wouldn’t gift anything to anyone.

Well, it looks like Valentine’s Day will be dull in Bollywood. But who knows if they secretly have good time with their loved ones or send bunch of goodies even if they can’t celebrate together!

Shahrukh-Kajol in 'Student Of The Year'

Here is good news for film lovers. Bollywood’s most-loved onscreen pair Shahrukh Khan and Kajol will be seen together again if the latest news is to be believed. Yes, the news has it that the pair would make a special appearance in Karan Johar’s latest offering Student Of The Year.

Student Of The Year, based on Hollywood film High School Musical, features new faces Varun Dhawan, son of David Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, daughter of Mahesh Bhatt, and Siddharth Malhotra in the lead roles.

Well, the presence of Shahrukh and Kajol would add spice up the film!

Chak de moment for SRK's girl, team

It took calm nerves in a tense penalty shoot-out before the loudest shriek of victory from one of the smallest frames on the team confirmed that Dhirubhai Ambani (Bandra) had won the MSSA girls U-12 football title, beating Arya Vidya Mandir at the Azad Maidan on Friday.

Her superstar dad Shah Rukh Khan may have inspired an all-girls hockey team to glory on reel (Chak De) but for Suhana Khan, her spunky teammates did the trick to ensure Ambani ended the season on a high.

Manning the midfield, Suhana was in the thick of things as her team shot into the lead in the first half through an Ananya Thakur strike only to concede toward the end of the game, forcing a shoot-out which the Bandra school won 3-1. The school had an all-win record before the final and heroics from makeshift 'keeper Thakur ensured that the record stayed intact. However, the star of Ambanis campaign was Sakshi Munot who netted eight times this season. The girls have a lot of spunk and it showed in the final, said coach Chanchal Singh.

I love Shah Rukh Khan, says miss South Africa Nicole Flint

She greets you with a polite Namaste as she settles down for her interview. Nicole Flint, all of 22, crowned Miss South Africa for the year 2009 -2010, is currently touring India.

The pretty lass, who has been exposed to various cultures, thanks to her stint at various beauty pageants is extremely excited to be in India. “I love India and everything about the place. It’s so beautiful to see so many colours around. The people here are so warm and hospitable. I already dread going back.”

Ask her what she best likes about India and she is quick to add that it’s a toss up between the country’s spicy food and films.

Flint is a self-confessed foodie and admits that she has been gorging on the spicy Indian cuisine ever since she landed here. “I have had some of the most amazing kebabs and chicken here,” she says smacking her lips.

As a global ambassador, Flint thinks it is important to stand up for issues that need support. The causes closest to her heart include education and rehabilitating the homeless.

“I am a very family oriented person. Also, I feel education is really important. I am what I am, because of my education.”

Flint, admittedly, swears by Hindi films. She squeals, “I am a huge fan of Shah Rukh Khan and I have seen Devdas and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. He is incredibly huge in South Africa. I am hoping to meet him,” she says, adding, “I just switch off the television if Shah Rukh Khan is dying in a film. It is too much of a heartbreak for me.”

Films aside, she absolutely enjoys watching cricketer Sachin Tendulkar score.

The model is hoping to come back to India and, if given a choice, get married here. “Oh, I’d love to get married in India. My father would be the happiest if I got married to an Indian guy.”

Ask her if she has a special someone in her life? “Well, I have a guy, but he didn’t come with me to India. If I had my way, I would get married to Shah Rukh,” she winks.

Caterina Lopez had big crush on Shahrukh Khan

After the grand success of sensuous item number “Sheila ki Jawani” picturised on Bollywood’s heartthrob Katrina Kaif, bollywood has another Cat entering the film industry. Caterina Lopez, cousin of famous and talented singer cum actress Jennifer Lopez, will be seen in her Bollywood debut that is an item number in Ankush Bhatt directed upcoming movie ‘Bhindi Bazaar Inc’. Katrina Kaif and other actresses need to be cautious of this Latin beauty as she is already making big news.

However, Caterina Lopez is super excited to be in Bollywood, as she commented: "When they approached me for this sexy item number, I jumped up at it. And this gave me the perfect chance to come and work in Mumbai, which is the New York of India."

Filmmakers today lack passion, vision: Karan Johar

Director-producer Karan Johar, who has made many hit films, feels that filmmakers today lack the passion and the vision that great yesteryears’ directors had.”We solely lack the passion. I don’t think we have the passion, the vision and the madness yesteryear filmmakers had. I think we (the current lot of filmmakers) are too pragmatic, too practical, too commercial and too much focus on the dynamics of the movie industry.”

“We are no longer passionate people. We don’t have that anymore,” Johar told reporters here.

The 38-year-old filmmaker shared his thoughts during an event to launch the “The Dialogue of Pyaasa”, a book that immortalises the dialogues and heartwarming songs of legendary actor-director Guru Dutt’s 1957 cinematic masterpiece “Pyaasa”.

The book has been compiled by author Nasreen Munni Kabir and is available in Hindi, English and Urdu.

Johar, who is a self-proclaimed fan of Guru Dutt’s films was elated to be part of the launch event.

“It’s truly an honour and a pleasure to be associated with this genius, this man, this craftsman (Guru Dutt),” he said.

“I was not a normal child in my generation. Everyone, when I was growing up, was watching a whole lot of different cinema. I don’t know whether its karmic or it’s my destiny, but I grew up watching a lot of the masters’s movies.”

“So I grew up on Bimal Roy, vintage Raj Kapoor and Guru Dutt. My mother used to like listening to Guru Dutt’s music and that what drew me towards his movies and at a very young age, it left an indelible mark in my head space. Even till today, some of those images and visuals keep coming back to me and I haven’t been able to emulate even one of them,” Johar added.

So does he feel “Pyaasa” should be remade?

“Remaking is a fashion trend nowadays. I’m doing it myself but some films should not be touched because that’s an insult to them. ‘Pyaasa’ is a film like that. I think it should be kept like the way it is,” said Johar, who is now remaking “Agneepath”.

Time for Khantroversy

Shah Rukh Khan will perform ten controversies that rocked the nation, at Ekta Kapoor's award show,

Ekta Kapoor doesn't believe in shying away from controversies and scandals. Her upcoming Global Indian Film & Television Honours (GIFTH) promises to be the most controversial award function of the year.

Balaji Telefilms Ltd, which is hosting the nation's first joint film and television awards event, will have Shah Rukh Khan performing India's top 10 controversies of 2010.

Says an insider, "SRK will be seen in the finale and his act will include taking off on each controversy The Niira Radia tapes, The Commonwealth Games fracas, the IPL controversy and a few controversies on some B-Town stars. The act will end in a huge burst of fireworks with SRK announcing something specially unique!"

Comfort factor

The award function is on February 12, but King Khan has yet to decide on the list. He wants to avoid certain highly sensitive scandals but Ekta is pressing him to do it.

Adds a source, "If Shah Rukh is not comfortable with the idea, then there is another option of taking off on the top 10 films of 2010 which includes Ekta's own Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, Dabanng etc.

There's another possibility of building the act around the top 10 songs of 2010. But Ekta's heart is set on the top 10 controversies and she's hoping to persuade SRK to do it."

The two SRKs
It is learnt that Shobhaa Kapoor is a huge Shah Rukh admirer and it is at her insistence that SRK is doing the finale.

Says a Balaji insider, "Shobhaa told them flatly when other options were being discussed that no award function can happen without King Khan.

So it was one SRK (Shobhaa Ravi Kapoor) insisting on another SRK.

Shah Rukh's performance on the Balaji award night in 2008 was the highlight of the event and this time around Ekta promises that his act nothing short of spectacular." Can't wait, can you?

The director begins the post-awards after-party trend in India

On Saturday night, the producer-director had a post-Filmfare awards party at a five-star hotel in Bandra.

At the bash were Gauri and Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapur, Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan and Avantika Malik, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Silva, Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jesia, Bipasha Basu and John Abraham and Karisma with hubby Sanjay Kapur.

Mediator? Main hoon naa!

Shah Rukh Khan got Priyanka and Kareena to sort out their differences...

Shah Rukh Khan played mediator between two of his fav leading ladies, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, at a recent awards event.
In fact, had it not been for his intervention, there would have been a bigger altercation.

The tiff
A source reveals how Khan diffused the tension at Yash Raj Studios where the two actresses had a face-off offstage.
"The shooting of PC's performance took longer than expected. The Kapoor lass, who was given the same time slot, kept waiting for her to finish her act.

Eventually, it got really late and Kareena decided to stage a walkout."

'Let's talk!'
SRK was at the venue rehearsing his bit. When he heard about the tiff, he decided to sort it out. The source adds, "Knowing that the two don't get along, he spoke to them separately.

He told Bebo to take it easy and suggested she shoot her act the next morning instead of cancelling it completely."

Bebo was in a rush, as she had to return to Pune to shoot for Bodyguard at he earliest. "However, since she has the highest regard for SRK, she could not ignore his request.

She returned the next morning to finish her shoot." Shah Rukh then went up to PC and told her that Bebo had agreed to shoot the next day. He also told PC to return Bebo's gesture with warmth and gratitude."

So, before Kareena left for the day, PC walked up to her and gave her a warm hug.

Priyanka Chopra & Madhuri ignore SRK

Priyanka Chopra we all know is a big Madhuri Dixit fan. Imagine her excitement when she realised that Madhuri Dixit was shooting for a reality show on the next stage at Filmistan studio. Priyanka herself was shooting for an ad while Shah Rukh Khan was shooting for Don 2 in the same studio. The moment Priyanka got to know about Madhuri she went up to Shah Rukh and requested him to introduce her to the diva. SRK very sweetly took PC across to Madhuri. The moment the two actresses came face to face, all hell broke loose. Both the actresses were effusive in their praise for each other and they talked nineteen to nine hundred. So much that they forgot all about SRK. After he’d been ignored for a while, SRK butted in saying, “I knew this would happen. I would be left out.” And every one burst out laughing. Sweet!!

SRK was pampering me a lot: Claudia

After her stint in 'Bigg Boss 3', model-turned-actor Claudia Ciesla is hoping that her performance in 'Zor Ka Jhatka' opens up doors for her in Bollywood.

How did " Zor Ka Jhatka" happen?
The production house for "ZKJ" is the same that was behind "Bigg Boss". They approached me for this show and when I heard the concept and that Shah Rukh Khan was the anchor, I had little reason to disagree. I judged that it would be a fun show.

Of late, the shortcut to success and greater visibility seem to be participating in reality shows...
I have no intention of taking this route for being in the news. My attempt has been to do quality work and one has to keep in mind that this is a show with celebs. If "BB" was more of a mental game, this one tests your stamina and strength. If the audience saw my willpower in "BB", they will get to see how tough I am, physically. Considering that this is the first season of "ZKJ", my guess is it will be hugely successful. After all, people want to be entertained.

And did you have an 'entertaining' experience while shooting in Argentina?
I did. This game is about the right timing. There are four rounds in every episode and only one person is the winner in these rounds. We had to compete with toughies like boxer Manoj Kumar, squash pro Ravi Dixit and Vindoo Dara Singh.

How was SRK?
He is not called the King of Bollywood for nothing. SRK was rocking. The way he was putting the questions to us, they were, at times, naughty and sometimes, tricky. One should take a leaf out of his book. His charisma, energy and sense of humour are praiseworthy.

How did your interaction with him go?
He was interacting with all the contestants over the phone. And SRK was praising me a lot as I was doing well. I had a chance to interact with him recently in Mumbai, and I must say, that he is a cool and funny guy.

Did you introduce yourself to SRK or did he know you from before?
Surprisingly, he knew me from my "BB" days. Even at the launch party, he called me by my name. Fact is, I am smitten by SRK.

Did you approach him for work in Bollywood?
It's not my style to ask anyone for help. Everyone is after his life wanting to use his name for a Bollywood entry. Fact is, it's humanly impossible for him to help everybody. I don't want to bother SRK with such requests. I am sure if there is any role of a foreigner or something that suits me, he will not forget me.

Any compliment from the Badshah that you cherish?
He said he was proud of me. Shah Rukh was pampering me a lot. While we used to address him as Shah Rukh on the show, personally, I address him as 'sir'. I have too much respect for him.

Apart from SRK, the show was also in the news for the injuries it caused to some participants...
Yes, three or four contestants had to go back to India because the injury was pretty serious. But otherwise, there were masseurs, physiotherapists and doctors on-call during the shoot.

Did you, at any point of time, feel like quitting?
Never. I had a thousand blue marks but I took them in the spirit of the game.

Who did you bond with the most?
All the 30 contestants were like one big group. Yes, I was close to a few but I don't want to take any names as they are all friends.

What's next?
Before coming on the show, I finished shooting for Anand Kumar's Kannada film, "Private Number". I am hoping, with the exposure on the show, something good turns up in Bollywood too.

Kajol to consider cameo in KJo’s next

While Kajol has always proven to be a lucky charm for Karan Johar, his films are known to have been incomplete without her. And now that the filmmaker’s next film called Student Of The Year is underway, it seems only natural to expect a cameo from her.

Calling her previous such ‘acts’ in K Jo’s films only “30-second appearances” she says, “You can’t really call that a role. But let’s see what Karan has in mind. Besides, I don’t think I can do more than that. I have a small baby to take care of.”

Not just that, the remaining third of the trio, Shah Rukh Khan, is not only co-producing the film, but is also acting in it. The film marks the debut of David Dhawan’s son Varun and Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter Alia.

Meanwhile, the reasons for Kajol to celebrate just continue to add up. After becoming a mother for a second time, she now is ecstatic about being presented the Padma Shri, apart from winning the Best Actress Award for her performance in My Name Is Khan.

“I had not at all anticipated this. I’m told I’m the second youngest person to be awarded the Padma Shri. I think I expected to get it when I was a little older,” confesses Kajol when asked about making it to the list of Padma awardees this year.

But one look at the 29 films she acted in, in her career spanning 19 years since Rahul Rawail’s Bekhudi, and it all makes sense. “Really?” she wonders in surprise, conceding that she doesn’t know the exact criteria, “If I’m not mistaken, it’s got to do with the entire body of work. I think they thought I was worthy of it.”

The actor recalls attending to her baby, Yug, when actor-filmmaker husband, Ajay Devgn, broke the news to her. “I was a little irritated because I was tending to my baby and said I had to get back to Yug. But yes, I was pleasantly surprised and happy with the news,” she smiles.

The first person she called to give the great news to was naturally her mother and veteran actor, Tanuja, followed by sister Tanissha. “They were all very happy that I was happy,” she says. But she hasn’t planned to celebrate the news as yet. “I think I’ll wait for the award to actually come into my hands for that.”

Though she has featured in all of Karan’s films and has also made appearances on the previous two seasons of his TV show, Koffee With Karan, she let Ajay make a solo trip this time.

“I just want to spend time with my baby. I didn’t want to take time out for any show,” she says, matter-of-factly, adding that her husband went as her representative. Dismissing any notions that he needed some preparation to go solo, she asserts, “He can take on anyone with one hand tied behind his back.”

Ajay too made headlines for his witty responses on Karan’s couch. For someone who’s known to be reserved, he spoke rather candidly on the show. In response to one of Johar’s rapid fire round queries for advice to Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, he is believed to have said that they shouldn’t get married. If that’s not enough, Ajay also revealed how Kajol wasn’t interested in him when they first met and how she has come a long way from the girl who couldn’t care less, to a jealous wife.

“I must watch the show first before I can comment on that. All he said after returning from the shoot was that he had a good time and that I must wait till I watch it to know more,” she says.

SRK & Salman to patch-up at Imran's wedding?

Seems like the new-year has started on a forgiving note. While many Bollywood stars have hugged and made-up, another rival pair, SRK-Salman is all set to face each other under one roof. Rumour has it that Aamir has invited all the Bollywood glitterati to his beloved bhanja's Imran Khan's wedding reception at Taj Land's End on February 5.

From the family turned foe, Mukesh and Anil Ambani to rivals SRK and Salman, everyone is expected to attend the lavish event.

A source revealed to Mumbai Mirror, "Aamir has always wanted Salman and Shah Rukh to patch up. If you recall, he spent the entire night shuttling between Mannat (SRK's residence) and Galaxy (Salman's residence) when their fight took place at Katrina Kaif's birthday party two years ago. This could be just the occasion he might go the extra mile and make them warm up to one another."

On being asked whether the two will avoid each other the source said, "How can that be ascertained now? Of course, most people from the industry have been invited. Add this to Imran and Avantika's close family members and the guest list looks rather impressive," reports the tabloid.

Let's wait and watch if the impending face-off ends on a happy note.
