SRK surprises at award show

It was one big family affair at the Tyoharon Ka Tyohar — Pantene Star Parivaar Awards 2010, where the old talent met the new and together they celebrated the momentous occasion — completion of 10 years of entertainment on Star Plus.

Through the years, the channel has created some memorable and iconic characters like Tulsi, Mihir, Parvati, Om, Prerna, Karan, Komolika, Kumkum, Ragini, Gattu, Naitik, Akshara, Ishaan, Suhana, who came together for the first time at this event to put up some stunning performances. Star Plus will air the show tonight at 8 and there’s a big surprise as well which will be revealed by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

About this year’s Star Parivaar, Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India Pvt. Ltd., said, “The awards are not only bigger, but even better than the previous years. Star Plus has had an extremely successful 10 years run, but as we move into the next decade we have a great responsibility to ensure that we continue to give our viewers superlative content in televised entertainment. Our audience is very important to us and continues to be an inspiration for us to outperform ourselves at every step. We are here to build a long-term relationship with every family because for our channel, the audience is our family just as we hope we are part of their family.”

The actors were thrilled to be part of the event. “Star Parivaar was and will always be my extended family,” said Smriti Irani, still popular as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’s Tulsi Virani. “To be a part of the tenth anniversary celebrations was like a homecoming. It was lovely to meet friends and colleagues and relive some glorious moments together.” Smriti’s counterpart Saakshi Tanwar, who played Parvati in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, can’t believe how time has passed. “It feels like yesterday!” she remarked.

For the newer breed, it was very exciting to catch up with senior actors. Hina Khan, Akshara of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, was thrilled to meet Smriti, Saakshi and some others. “Since I began my career on TV, I have always wanted to meet them and I have finally met the Stars!” she smiled. Pooja Gor of Pratigya, added, “It felt really nice for a newcomer like me to be a part of such a huge and royal family.” Bollywood stars Shilpa Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Malaika Arora Khan, Amrita Rao, who’ve been associated with the channel over the years, were also present at the awards.
