My Name is Khan's advance booking begins

In spite of the threat from the Shiv Sena and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) to ban My Name is Khan, featuring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol, producer Karan Johar is determined to release it as scheduled this Friday (February 12). And the good news is that advance booking of the film is good,

The Mumbai Police Commissioner D Sivanandan has assured protection to the theatres screening My Name is Khan this Friday. Karan Johar said that the film would be released as scheduled, as they have got personal assurance from the police. He added that the advance booking, which was opened yesterday, would remain open today. The filmmaker met the police chief along with the film's distributor, FOX Searchlight and multiplex owners.

The Shiv Sena had earlier threatened to ban the release My Name is Khan in Mumbai following Shahrukh's statement that the Pakistani cricketers should be included in the IPL and that Mumbai is for all Indians. Bal Thackeray, the chief of the party, has hinted that they would lift the ban but the VHP has jumped in to do more damage to the film. They have called for a nation-wide boycott of the film and called Shahrukh a 'traitor.'
