Shah Rukh, Vishal and Sajid to go international with ‘2 States’
Vishal Bhardwaj, who is known for his impeccable sense of filmmaking and his abilty to adapt novels into cinema, is planning to use the international platform for his latest adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s ‘2 States’. And superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala will team up with the ace filmmaker to go global with the film.
Talking to a tabloid, a source revealed, , “For Shah Rukh, as well as his director Vishal Bhardwaj and producer Sajid Nadiadwala, ‘2 States’ will be a chance to crack the international market.”
Moreover, SRK, who has an uncanny knack of grabbing eyeballs across the globe, believes that Bhagat’s novel has the formula that can appeal to the international audiences.
“Not that Shah Rukh is looking to give Brad Pitt and Colin Farrell a run for their money but he feels that Chetan Bhagat’s novel has the potential to appeal to NRI audiences,” added the source.
And the flick will be King Khan’s first bi-lingual project. Bhagat was initially asked to write the script but the filmmakers along with the industry heavy weight have zeroed in on Sabrina Dhawan to write the screenplay.
Producer Nadiadwala, while confirming the news said, “Yes, we’re looking at ' States' as a project with a much wider reach than our other films, as it has the potential to break through boundaries. We’ve got Sabrina Dhawan on board to write the screen adaptation. Sabrina and Vishal are now in Delhi working on the script. We’ll finalize the casting after the script is done. It should take about a month as we’re going on floors in July.”
However, the biggies have not discussed the film’s proceedings with Bhagat. And the author has very little idea about the development regarding the film. Bhagat said, “I have not been in the loop so I don’t know what the progress is. I’m busy with my next book. If things are moving along with '2 States', that’s great.”
