Noting that the young generation of Bollywood is more exposed to western cinema, superstar Shahrukh Khan today said India needs to make movies that impress global audience and expects to achieve the level in near future.

"To be really proud, we need to make films which make a mark in the world. I can see it happening in the next five or six years, very easily," Shahrukh told CNN at an interview with Farid Zakaria.

He said Bollywood films are using "Hinglish" - a liberal use of English in spoken Hindi.

"Because see, also the problem is that the language that we use in our films is Hindi. So, I don't think Hollywood, that's the only advantage that they have is that they speak in English -- they're great filmmakers also -- but I think that's a big advantage, that we don't make films in English yet," Shahrukh said.

"But the time is coming now, because I have kids and they're all watching, you know, language in Hindi films, if you see a new Indian film, you'll realise that the language is more Hinglish.

You know, we're using, and we don't have to translate it anymore, everyone understands it. And everyone uses it every day," he said.

"They (the young people in Bollywood) have learned the technique and technology, and writing from the western world, which is a more developed science.

As far as screenplay writing, it is a more developed science in the west. And they have been able to take those ideas and say OK, we can bring them into our films.

Though many a times they fail at it, but the youth here in India now is also understanding different kind of cinema, because they're also exposed to television, Internet," Shahrukh said.

With globalisation and growing amount of communication and information sharing, language and culture as a barrier will start breaking down, Shahrukh said.

"You go on to the Internet -- I go on Twitter or you know, I hang with kids and chat with them. And I'm realising that, they're trying to figure out what my culture is and talking about it. So, all that will break down and other cinemas will come over, will come, and they'll use the technology -- and a lot of technicians from here.

But stories, every country has a story to tell. And once it reaches a certain standard in terms of technique, I think the world would like to watch it," he said.

Shah Rukh in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Ferrari Ki Sawaari .

It’s finally fallen into place – Shah Rukh Khan will star in a Vidhu Vinod Chopra production.
While they have never worked together in the past, the fact is that Vidhu has been trying to do a film with Shah Rukh for years now. Vidhu had wanted him for 1942-A Love Story then for Kareeb, Munnabhai MBBS and even 3 Idiots , but every single time, something went wrong. In fact, Shah Rukh’s failure to do 3 Idiots led to a fall out between them.
Shah Rukh had given his consent to do 3 Idiots but later withdrew from the project after Vidhu criticised his film Paheli . The friction escalated after Vidhu said Shah Rukh was trying to lure Rajkumar Hirani to direct films for his own production house, Red Chillies.

The thaw started in June last year when Shah Rukh and Vidhu shared the same platform during the rift between producers-distributors and multiplex owners. A source says, “There is no animosity between them now. In fact, they are very friendly with each other.”

The renewed friendship is now set to be cemented with a film called Ferrari Ki Sawaari . According to a well placed industry source, Shah Rukh has given his nod to the project.

Interestingly, Aamir Khan had been offered the film first but he turned it down because he wanted to concentrate on the post-production of his three home productions - Dhobi Ghaat, Peepli Live and Delhi Belly .

Ferrari Ki Sawaari is a tale about how an Indian cricket legend’s Ferrari makes a young boy’s dream of playing cricket at Lords come true. The film is also loosely inspired by a bestseller. Rajesh Mapuskar, who has been a longtime associate of Vidhu’s favourite director Rajkumar Hirani, will direct this film.

SRK, the sport!

Shah Rukh Khan has quite a few reasons to smile these days. For starters, having won four of the eight matches they’ve played till date, his team is performing far better in this season of the IPL versus last year when they ended the season at the bottom of the table.

Now, the Badshah doesn’t make a personal appearance at every match his team plays, but whenever he does, one can see him and his entourage busy cheering for the boys. But that’s not what caught our attention at a recent match. The venue was Kolkata’s Eden Garden grounds and his boys had just beaten the mighty Hyderabad team, right on home turf. Of course, the crowds were ecstatic but even more obvious was the joy on SRK’s face as he hugged captain Saurav Ganguly. But instead of sporting the deep purple and gold colours of his team, SRK was wearing the jersey of the team that his boys had so convincingly whipped. He even pointed it out to the people around him. Guess being on the winning side does bring out the true spirit of sportsmanship in SRK.

Shah Rukh to go naked...

Actor Shah Rukh Khan is on a roll again, what with his IPL team - Kolkata Knight Riders - making him a proud owner now and again. Of course, compared to last year's dismal performance, this year has been a remarkable one in comparison for the KKR's and deserves celebration!

However, Shah Rukh Khan though attending post-match IPL parties once in away, won't pop the bubbly too soon. He insists he'll celebrate in a unique way if his team was to win the League this year! "I'll dance naked to my song ‘Dard-e-disco’ in the DY Patil staidum," he said, "if my team will make it to the finals and win!"

Lalit Modi, Chairman, IPL, was all smiles at this statement of Shah Rukh's. "He's a great owner and highly possessive about his team members. I won't be surprised if he actually sticks to his word about dancing in the nude if they were to win," he laughed.

Wonder if SRK needed to watch his words before uttering them... But the women, we're sure, are now hollering for KKR a little louder than otherwise!

Shah Rukh Khan is a special guest at Malaysian Grand Prix

Some people have large hearts. Some people can win hearts. But few can do it better than Shah Rukh Khan. Winning fans comes easy for Shah Rukh Khan and that’s why he is now on his way to Malaysia to be a special guest for the Malaysian Grand Prix, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur on 4 April.

The superstar was in Kolkata on Thursday night to cheer his Indian Premier League team, the Kolkata Knight Riders against the Deccan Chargers. A beleaguered side after finishing last in the previous year, SRK bolstered his team’s spirits and finally saw his franchisee victorious.

Shah Rukh said, “I know our team has not been doing well, but we are fighting. Every game there is an attempt to do better than the previous match. Inshallah, everything will fall into place.” And everything did fall into place as Sourav Ganguly and his boys put up a fight that had them claiming victory.

When asked if he gave any advice to his team, Shah Rukh said, “Absolutely not. I do not interfere with anything related to the game. I leave that to the experts, Dave Whatmore and Wasim Akram. If I start giving them advice on how to play the game, they will start giving me advice on how to act, which I certainly do not want.”

A victory lap was essential by the superstar as excited KKR fans waited patiently for the presentation ceremony to get over. And it was not just the fans, but certain Deccan Chargers’ players too. Andrew Symonds waited patiently by the dugout and gifted the actor his t-shirt and Shah Rukh, the sport that he is, immediately wore it, without a thought that he was donning the opposition’s jersey.

SRK, SUHANA, ARYAN, SUSMITA SEN, KKR vs DC 1st April,

I don't tell my team how to play: Shah Rukh Khan

Days after twitting to his Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) players that they stop giving excuses and instead deliver, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan says he is neither involved in cricketing matters of his team nor the management part of it, but is only there to "entertain."

"I don't involve myself in the cricketing part. Because I feel if I tell them how to play, they will tell me how to act," the KKR owner said.

"I don't tell them (the players) much. I can only love them. Business decisions are taken by (co-owners) Juhi Chawla and Jai Mehta. I come to entertain."

However, he justified the stern warning through his twitter account. "It helps at times if you treat them (the Knight Riders cricketers) as boys."

SRK, as Shah Rukh is affectionately called, seemed happy after his side's convincing victory against the Deccan Chargers Thursday.

"It's good to see dada (KKR skipper Sourav Ganguly) among the runs. I told them (the cricketers) at the start of this season that we cannot do worse than last year's performance. So they can only take the team up".

With Ganguly leading from the front with a blazing 54-ball 88, the KKR scripted a 24-run win over the Deccan Chargers to move up to the fifth slot in the IPL table with eight points. The team had finished with the wooden spoon in the second edition of the tourney held in South Africa last year.

"It's most disappointing when the spectators come and we do not live up to expectations. So it's time we prove ourselves to the crowd at Eden Gardens," said King Khan.

The KKR are scheduled to play four more games at their home ground till April 19.

Asked about his IPL experience since 2008, Shah Rukh said, "The first two years I did not know what to do. I felt helpless when the team did not do well. But now I know the game has its share of ups and downs."

A glitzy IPL for Kolkata

All Fools’ Day. Not a nice day to be believers, but some 35,000 still turned up at the Eden Gardens on Thursday, sure that the time had come — time for one emphatic turnaround. This time they were not fooled.

As the cheering fans, which included Team Kolkata boss Shah Rukh Khan and his Bollywood bandwagon, left the glare of the Eden lights melting into the night and carrying home the afterglow, the high-decibel ‘Korbo, Lorbo, Jitbo’ had been saved from slipping into irrelevance in another season of the Indian Premier League. The Knights are back and believing — and what better way than on the wings of a soaring ‘Dada’!

Sourav Ganguly broke out of the gathering gloom around him and the Team Kolkata with a significant innings of 88. The 54-ball knock, which had nine boundaries and five towering sixes, did not just help his team tame defending champions Team Hyderabad and resurrect hopes of a berth in the semi-finals, but also clear some of the air of skepticism over his own role in this frenetic world of Twenty20 cricket.

Is Dada still good enough? The doubts have been emphatically doused for now. Of course, in a team game like cricket there have to be others. David Hussey, who during the pre-match media meet on Wednesday, had expressed disappointment that he wasn’t contributing more to the Team Kolkata cause, chipped in with a useful 31 while the bowlers came to the party with a bagful of tricks.

Short-pitched deliveries and toe-crunching yorkers, the spin and the arm-ball, subtle changes in the line of attack, slower ones... They mixed them up nicely to deny the daunting batting line-up of Team Hyderabad. Left-arm spinner Murali Kartik and the extra-quick Shane Bond stood out even in the midst of what was a fine collective job.

In this frenzied format, things can change very quickly — and that over from Pragyan Ojha was surely the defining moment.

The left-arm spinner, who used to turn out for neighbouring Orissa at the junior level before he moved to Hyderabad, was clearly troubling Hussey with the turn he was extracting but once Sourav crossed over to take strike, he was suddenly bowling to the Team Kolkata skipper’s strength. Gilly should have known better.

Playing with the spin, Sourav hoisted him for three sixes. The terraces went crazy, and the Bollywood batch on the super-hospitality stand realized once more what Eden was all about. Waving flags and jumping with joy, the likes of Sushmita Sen, Raveena Tandon-Thadani, Arjun Rampal and Hrithik Roshan’s wife, Sussanne, came to the party. As did Gauri Khan and her two children, Aryan and Suhana.

Their dad, having flown in on a private jet from Goa where he was busy with his latest production — probably why he did not find the time to change into his team jersey — was by then in the team dugout to share it all with the Team Kolkata core.

Even as his first T20 century loomed large, Sourav perished in the same over, trying to send another one soaring over the midwicket fence, but he had already done the damage from a Deccan point of view.

If inconsistency has been the bane of Team Kolkata, and is bound to keep its followers on tenterhooks, the bug has certainly bit Team Hyderabad as well. With one of the best batting line-ups in the tournament, and a reasonably balanced bowling attack, many would have put their money on them retaining the trophy. It will be an uphill task from here.

For Team Kolkata, it has found a foothold again but the fickle format that is T20 and its own unpredictability means fans will have their fingers crossed. But then, there is a lot to look forward to. Two more home matches over the next few days, against laggards Team Mohali and Team Delhi, where there is also a score to settle. Sourav and Co. could all but clinch it here.

At least in Kolkata, they won’t be short on believers.

King Khan to stop using SRK Twitter

Bollywood megastar Shahrukh Khan is actually fed up of Twitter. SRK announced some hours ago that he will be closing his Twitter account and today will feature his last only some tweets. The actor mentioned that he hates Twitter and perhaps for clear causes. As you can see from a screenshot of his Twitter Profile above, Shahrukh Khan is soon going to close the IAMSRK Twitter Account. With an ever growing followers list in such a small time, many of Shahrukh Khan’s Twitter followers didn’t expect this on a 1st of April.
According to news, ShahRukh Khan’s mention of closing his Twitter account is not an April Fool joke and he is serious about it. From reports gathered across the actor’s close ones, ShahRukh Khan feels that Twitter is reducing his originality level and he spends much time procrastinating. Ever since the account is a established one, Twitter must be informed of this step.
The account is likely to be deactivated by April 3rd 2010.
